Not surprisingly, this mounting type has found its use mainly, but not exclusively, in the United Kingdom and British common wealth countries. Also, North American manufacturers have begun to specify British style fuses (particularly in applications like UPS equipment with voltages of 240 VAC or less) due to their size, performance and cost advantages. The dimensions given in the BS88 standard for high speed fuses are not physically interchangeable with industrial fuse standard.
