When the CARES act was passed on March 27^th of this year it opened up the possibility for lighting upgrades to be 100% written off in the year installed, meaning that the federal government would be subsidizing any improvement by the amount of the companies federal tax rate.

LED lighting uses between one-half and one-third of the energy required by legacy technologies, and in many cases, even less than that.

The LED lighting market has been dominated by Chinese manufacturing.  The good news in this is that the price for LED fixtures keeps getting better but, on the downside, domestic lighting manufacturers have had to look closely at how they go to market.  One of the largest lighting manufacturers in the U.S. recently had to consolidate their operations, citing predatory pricing from China as the cause.
