CBT BELTING TEAM

“CBT was able to step into an emergency on short notice and save the customer significant downtime. This was possible due to CBT’s unique expertise, equipment, and planning of the entire CBT Belting team.”

Problem:

A Northwest Ohio food processing company had a breakdown on their main conveyor line. They contacted CBT at 5 pm on Friday, January 17th needing the belt replaced in time to start back up on Sunday, January 19th. The belt needing replaced is a 100” wide food grade belt that is not readily available, and the installation of that belt requires a 3 Meter Press which most belting service companies do not own.

Solution:

CBT was able to schedule an emergency install for Saturday, January 18th. Three Belting Service Technicians were dispatched from CBT to install the belt. By Saturday evening the conveyor belt was installed, ran, and tracked. The facility was able to get up and running for their planned start up on Sunday, January 19th resulting in no loss of production.

Keys to Success:

CBT was able to step into an emergency on short notice and save the customer significant downtime. This was possible due to CBT’s unique expertise, equipment, and planning of the entire CBT Belting team.

CBT has a team of experienced Belting Technicians that were available, and equipped, to handle the emergency. Within thirty minutes of the initial call from the customer, a plan was in place with the details of who from CBT was going to perform the job, and what was necessary from the customer to get the job done expeditiously was communicated with the maintenance contacts.

CBT doesn’t house your normal, run-of-the-mill belt shop. We have the equipment in house to splice most lightweight belts up to 3 meters wide, while our competition can only rent this equipment for manufacturers. Because of our in-house capabilities, we are able to quickly respond to emergencies like this while other belt shops have to wait on outsourced services and lead times.

This was not the first time CBT installed this 100” wide belt for our customers.  CBT previously installed this belt and was cognizant of the critical nature of the belt in the customer’s production process. At that time, CBT’s inside team worked with the customer to get a spare belt on order should this exact situation arise. When the customer needed the spare conveyor belt, they had it. Proper communication, planning, expertise, experience, and an investment in the equipment our customers need, came together at a critical time. This allowed CBT to turn an emergency with potential costly downtime into a success for both CBT and our customers maintenance and planning departments.
