After an extensive two-year search, CBT Company, a leading local supplier of automation, power transmission, electrical supplies, belting and pneumatics solutions and related services, announced today that it will move its headquarters to 5500 Ridge Ave., Columbia Township, in the third quarter of 2016. CBT, formerly Cincinnati Belting & Transmission, was quickly outgrowing its West 6th Street facility, so leadership began searching in 2013 for a new location that could support its expanded product and service offerings for the next 30 years. A site within 10 miles of its current location, close proximity to major highways and a single-floor facility were key requirements for the new location to support a seamless transition for CBT’s customers and employees. “Our goal was to provide a great place for our employees to work and serve our customers for the next 30 years,” President & CEO Jim Stahl said. Founded in 1921, CBT housed its operations on Second Street (Pete Rose Way) until growth spurred the need for the company to move to the former Hudepohl keg building on West 6th Street in 1989. In 2006, CBT purchased another former Hudepohl building adjacent to its headquarters. As a result of continued growth and the need for a single facility to house its headquarters, CBT purchased the former K-Mart site at 5500 Ridge Ave. in Columbia Township. Immediately following the demolition of the existing structure, CBT plans to break ground on a new 95,000 sq. ft. facility that will feature 55,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space and 40,000 sq. ft. of office space for 120 of its 160 employees. The new facility will feature a number of customer-centric features, including state-of-the-art training, demonstration and application testing areas, as well as an expanded customer service area. Stahl noted the company expects its new location will help its growing number of employees better serve customers as the company continues to expand its offerings and service areas over the next several decades. “We are a locally owned and operated company, and we’re very excited to continue to grow and serve our existing customer base and position our organization for future growth,” Stahl said. Columbia Township Administrator Mike Lemon echoed Stahl’s enthusiasm for the project. “We are extremely excited about CBT relocating to Columbia Township,” Lemon said. “Having another high-caliber company like CBT in the township will serve as an additional catalyst for continued growth and redevelopment in the area.”
