8:15 AM – 9:15 AM : OSHA Safety Update
- Failure to control hazardous energy accounts for nearly 10 percent of the serious accidents in many industries! Compliance with the lockout/tagout standard prevents an estimated 120 fatalities and 50,000 injuries each year. Gaye Johnson, OSHA Safety Specialist, will help you understand the OSHA standard for The Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout). She will outline specific practices and procedures to implement on your plant floor that are necessary to disable machinery or equipment, thereby preventing the release of hazardous energy while employees perform servicing and maintenance activities.

Gaye Johnson- Assistant Area Director, OSHA – Gaye began her career with the U.S. Department of Labor in the Cincinnati Area office in 1985. She has held positions on both the administrative and professional side of OSHA. Gaye went through the Upward Mobility Program in 1989 to become a safety specialist at OSHA, a position she held for 17 years before being selected as a Compliance Assistance Specialist in September of 2007. In August of 2011, Gaye became an Assistant Area Director for the Cincinnati OSHA office. She has served on committees such as OSHA’s National Reinvention Committee and Region V’s 
Training committee. She has received numerous awards over her career in OSHA, including the Distinguished Career award.

- Better understand the ever-changing safety requirements for your business as Pat Berry explains the new OSHA and ANSI standards and how to implement them on your plant floor.

Pat Barry – Safety Specialist, Rockwell Automation – Pat joined Rockwell Automation as a Technical Consultant in January of 2006 and served as a dedicated Safety Consultant before assuming his current role as Regional Marketing Lead for the Eastern US. Pat has over 18 years of experience in industrial automation and 10 years of experience applying safety in a variety of industries including entertainment, packaging, machine tool, automotive, discrete assembly, and plastic extrusion. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University (BSEE) and Tennessee Technological University (MBA). Pat holds the credential of 
Functional Safety Engineer for Machinery and is a voting delegate on the ANSI B11 Accredited Standards Committee.
